A VICTORY ABOVE AND BEYOND WORDS: Brief Life Sketch: Kajal Dhawan

Kajal Dhawan, is a diligent, dynamic and energetic young girl, who is full of Self-confidence and Determination.with immense courage.She is a born hearing impaired, but her Physical Challenge has never let her hold back from facing any challenge in her life. She has always been a winner in whatever she tried. No doubt that the almighty God is the best leveler, and he blessed her with proficiency in concentration and amazing grasping power.

She is the recipient of National Award from the President of India 2007 as an outstanding employee with disability.Recipient of the coveted Lalji Mehrotra Foundation Award 2012 for her Outstanding All Round Contribution as a Role Model for Differently Abled. NCPEDP-Shell Helen Keller Award 2013 as outstanding in Education, Sports & Extracurricular activities & in the true spirit a Role Model for Differently Abled.

She is a Graduate from University of Delhi from Jesus & Mary College, New Delhi. She has been outstanding in Education, Sports and other Extra Curricular Activities. She has represented INDIA at Taiwan and Malaysia as member of Indian Badminton Team. She has won a number of Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals at National and International levels in various sports. She was Ace Softball player during her college days. She was Team captain of Delhi University Softball Team for Inter College Championship 2000-2001. She won Delhi University Best Sports Women Award for 1999-2000 and 2000-2001.

Kajal Dhawan was conferred with the Award for “Outstanding Youth Achievements” being a Pillar of Deaf Leaders (NGO) for organizing an International level “Deaf Expo 2010” in Dec 2010. Her efforts were highly appreciated by National Dignitaries; Shri Oscar Fernandes; Shri Subodh Kant Sahai & Smt Deepa Kaul (Ex- UP Minister).

Being an outstanding Sportswoman she entered National Games for the Deaf in 1990. Kajal joined DFDW in 1997. A proficient Sign Language Teacher, Kajal has been conducting Workshops, Seminars, Lectures, Sports & Social activities for the upliftment of the physically challenged in Sirilanka, and number of States of India. Commending her efforts the Kerala Chief Minister said ” Kajal is a live wire and indeed a Role Model in the true spirit”. Visited World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) in Africa as part of Indian Delegation in 2011. She is the Sports Secretary of Delhi Federation of Deaf Women (DFDW) and Vice President of All India Foundation of Deaf Women (AIFDW). She has been supporting other Deaf organisations like Deaf Leaders Foundation (DLF), All India Federation of the Deaf (AIFD), National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and others in their activities for the betterment and upliftment of persons with disabilities.

She has been actively associated video filming and acting in documentary to act as role model and motivation of Physically Challenged people. She won Best Actress Award at the India Deaf Film Festival held at IGNOU New Delhi.
